I was patient around 3-4 months ago on the adolescent floor, I was sent involuntarily due to self harming. The staff was very understanding and friendly. The room I got had a nice view of Portland, and the activities and group sessions were okay. One thing I didn’t really like was that we weren’t allowed to share any contact info with our peers (I still got like 3 phone numbers lol)

I was in the adolescent floor and i had a great time it is a very comforting place the only thing i didnt like was that the only option for water when u shower is hot and when i say it was hot it was. Very hot. I couldn't take showers as often as i wished i could but either way best place ive been in WAAAYYY better than Fairfax. That place sucks. Unlike them this place feels like home but better i love it and recommend it.

I was a patient at Unity about a month ago. The staff was kind, and everybody was friendly. I was extremely unstable the first couple of nights; so I had a room with a locked bathroom and a small window in the door. I was checked on every 15 mins. Once I became more stable; they switched me to a different room that was more suited. They made sure that my (extremely large) waterbottle was always full; let me listen to music 24/7 when I asked; provided some spare clothing when I ran out and forgot to wash mine; let me go outside with the other kids into a fenced in garden; and provided meals that didn't violate my religion. (Eating fish in my religion is considered deviliary.) The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't let us share info with the friends we made. I didn't understand why we couldn't exchange numbers or emails when we got discharged. Jokes on them, I got at least one of my friends number there. I would prefer it if they at least got permission from our parents before banning us from sharing info during our discharge.

It was fall 2021 and my children ambushed me and forced me to go to this "supposed" mental health facility. I had just returned from an international trip and I was adjusting to the time change. My children researched and found this facility. (thinking I needed medical attention) They made me get out of bed and go against my will. It was a terrible experience. And on top of that Legacy is charging me an exorbitant amount. Shame on Legacy!!!. This facility should be shut down for good!!! Nothing came out of this visit. Good night and Good Luck!!!

That is kinda the point, they shouldn’t have such bad reviews for a place trying to help people who want to kill them selves.
Sign an ROI for your family, otherwise expect the hospital to not tell anyone your business
They can't talk about specific patients due to HIPAA, and they can't film anything except the outside for the same reasons (and the locked doors everywhere except the lobby.) The Oregonian has covered the goings-on at Unity, but I'm not sure why TV stations aren't doing the same. On the other hand, where else can folks experiencing mental health crises go? A trip to the local ER often results in either discharge or transfer to Unity. We need more beds and better options. Lastly, the Unity that was planned is not the Unity that operates now. Originally the emergency room was going to be unlocked, with a peer lounge and a living room. Quiet rooms had doors and people were supposed to be able to wear their own clothes, not scrubs. Once Unity opened, the reality of state regulations for hospitals and OHA investigations changed all of this into the Unity that is today.
Nope! They hold you until they feel its safe to release you.
Well yes your right, they should not put #30-#40 adult psychosis mentally I'll patients in one big room.it use to be better when you went to the ER room&had your own room, then went to the acute unit.but it's what were all dealing with now her in Portland, ore.and unity has gotten better.mentally I'll patients will all ways have a very hard time in psychiatric hospt.
This is the kind of critical fact finding that makes me proud to be a Google user.
Unity is equipped to help her but be prepared for 48+hr stay, depending on the severity she may need inpatient treatment for several days. Unity accepts state healthcare, so it shouldn't cost you anything. If she has dietary restrictions please make these known to the admin staff and ask that they ensure more than 1 nurse knows about the restriction so it is respected and upheld.
It's more like $3000/day.
Call the Unity main line, ask for the name and which unit they are on and they will get you right through
The chairs are pretty uncomfortable, but here's the thing. The first couple of days you do have to interact, whether it means talking or just sitting there quietly observing. After you've proved to be more stable, they'll let you stay in your room for a couple of days. Then you have to spend another day interacting.
Yes the psych providers specialize in all kinds of mental disorders including DID
Unity does not do detox, RavenWolf is incorrect. Also, all the units have the same visiting hours: 9 am to 9 pm. The exception is the PES. Visiting is possible but must be pre arranged and cannot always be available because of staffing and space issues. Always try to call before visiting because someone may be having a bad day and not want company.
There are a number of medications that are not prescribed as it is emergency care or inpatient care. You're always welcome to call and ask to speak with triage.
You can always call the hospital for advice, but it may be better to call a mental health hotline if you're feeling like you might hurt someone or yourself. Coming in to the hospital for advice is just like coming into any ER for advice; the second you walk through those doors, the hospital is responsible for you.
9am - 9pm.
