I'm leaving a comment on here specifically to give some praise to one of the employees at Vancouver housing Authority. The individuals name is Tracie Baldwin. Tracy has gone above and beyond every single time I have called and either left a message at the housing authority or got through and spoken with Tracie. Each time Tracie made me feel like helping me in that moment was top priority. I felt valued, heard and cared about not as just another person looking for this or that answer but I could tell through Tracie's words and even more importantly through her actions that I was valued as an individual. If there is an award to go out to the number one employee of a nonprofit agency in Washington or even on the entire west coast it should go straight to Tracie Baldwin. if anyone else has had the blessing of being able to speak with her or work with her at all they know exactly what I'm saying. What an amazing, hard working, consistently caring individual. Thank you Tracie Baldwin!

I drove here to find housing for a person with a disability and nowhere to go, just needed to ask some questions and maybe get assistance for the individual. Their office is closed "due to" covid, so don't bother driving here, they don't pick up their phone even during business hours. Also the whole closed due to covid is bs. Other stores that work for profit have no problem being open. If they made money their lobby would be open. Whoever runs this doesn't care about people in need.

No, the paperwork can be brought in or mailed.
You would have got a letter in the mail if they were offering something make sure you change your address if you're moving they will not look for you
I don't know if it's automatic if you have section 8. My caseworker sent one to me and it turned off my medical transportation but I haven't used the bus pass yet
The waitlist for sec 8 is closed and has been for many years due to the demand being so great. there are many people in the same or worse situation than you. the best way is to keep checking with the VHA by calling or stopping by. sometimes they open a lottery to allow people a chance to get on the waitlist but even then the average wait time is 8 to 10 years.
Not yet. Still by appointment only.
VHA has a lot of different programs, I'm fairly certain you could/ should qualify for some kind of assistance or at least they could point you in the right direction, best wishes and fingers crossed for you!
I haven't found out that information. I will on the 22nd, during orientation.
I believe you can call
Start with the council for the homeless. They're located on Andresen. Also housing has a very long waiting list. But the council for the homeless has other resources. Council for the homeless is open on Thursdays at 9 I believe for intakes. You may want to be there earlier than 9:00 because they only have so many spaces to fill.
Yes on www.vhausa.org they have different waitlists. I recommend Isabella court, it's a senior living facility apartment complex. Apply online, at www.vhausa.org and once completed you will be placed on the wait list. Once you apply go to applicants.vhausa.org and creat an account. Be sure to check regularly (at least every 6 months) to check the status of your applications. You can apply for any of the open waitlists on Vancouver Housing Authority's website. Hope this helps
I see a lot of information about Section 8. Online application nowhere to be found for Vancouver WA. All I get when calling office... "Apply online". Uhm, where. Some sites nothing to click. Except back to the beginning.
It just depends on the property that you have been waiting on cause I only have waited 2 months and I am getting a voucher
Depends on what wrong, have you contacted the housing authority in down town and told them what going on? They can usually help
Only thing you can do is talk with your case worker. Sorry for your problems. Good luck
They will inspect a percentage of units chosen randomly either the night before or the morning of. The property manager has to notify every unit because they don't know 48 hours before which units will be chosen. So, yes, if they choose your apartment you have to comply. It doesn't matter if it's a subsidized property or not, management has the right, under landlord tenant laws, to enter your unit at any time with 48 hours notice.
Yes. There is a Federal Program that is similar to T.A.N.F. (fairly new name for wellfair ( but it is T.A.N.F. DV. also 211 is a amazing tool to use and it connects you to a whole bunch of programs that most are unawear exsist. But in the mean time. You are not in the wrong for calling police to help when abuse accurs. There is never a reason for abusive behavior that controls someone leaving them debilitated. Also Y.W.C.A. is a amazing program that can help not only with shelter but also with support groups, councling etc. Keep your head up and say enough is enough.
Diane, you have to call the Vancouver Housing Authority to find out where you are on the list, you will need to provide your name, social security number and d.o.b ect ect for them to look you up in thier systym and tell you your place on the list. Also make sure the VHA has an updated address for you anytime you move. If the VHA sends you a letter and you don't respond you will be removed from the waiting list and it is now cloes so you wouldnt be able to reapply for it. good luck to you hopefully you are close to the top.
