Amazing trail both for mountain biking Or hiking. You can start from either way north or south. The trail is medium for mountain biking and easy for trekking. You can’t believe that you are in the wilderness in the middle of the city. Done this hike and biking more than 10 times. The terrain is up and down and you can see houses in the east and west of the hill as you walk through the Canyon. For the first time we saw jackal or fox howling to us, sorry guys we never intend to harm you. There is a waterfall in the middle of the trail and you can walk either side of the creek. There will always be people in this trail but not so crowded.

It's an easy hike to see the views of CA. You can take the iconic stairs or go on the trail that wraps around to the top. There is no shade at all so bring a hat! You can easily find street parking (which was a surprise). At the top, there is a pretty clean bathroom.

Nice hiking πŸ₯Ύ, mountain biking πŸš΅β€β™€οΈ, and horse 🐎 riding park in the middle of San Diego. The park is managed by the City of San Diego and has 147 registered trails for mountain biking πŸš΅β€β™‚οΈ and hiking πŸ₯Ύ and 9 identified for horseback riding. I believe many more trails are open to horses but only found 9 listed. The center of the valley has many easy riding trails, a nice year round stream, a small waterfall, and wildlife such as deer 🦌, rabbits πŸ‡, skunks 🦨, and an occasional bobcat. People love walking their dogs πŸ• here but watch out for coyotes especially near dawn and dusk.

Nice, easy, relatively flat hike. Lots of bikers and runners. We got to the waterfall (9/3/18). Watch out no cell signal when you get further in. Not much shade, and can be as long as you want. It loops you just have to pay attention to the signs. Stepped across the waterfall area, climbed up the trail, and hiked back. There are many opportunities for crossing over to the original path.
