Management is always responsive & extremely kind, understanding. There is staff on site all days of the week. The building has a really nice patio & community room that offers free warm drinks. It’s always clean. Every single day I can either see a cleaning person or hear the vacuum guy. There’s also security cameras in all the PUBLIC spaces. Trash is easy access at the end of each hallway. For how easy it is to apply to this building & stress-free... it’s a really great place. I haven’t met any neighbors who weren’t nice ( rarely pump into people anyways ) The community room is never crowded which is also nice. The space also comes with your own personal dryer-washer-dishwasher

I had a lease here with my fiance for some time. I'm never one to leave reviews, however. People seem to be hating on east 12 for the heat, which is only 3 months out of the entire year. I come from southern California where its hot all year round Management! Management has always been very helpful, amd quick to service our needs as well as go above and beyond to answer any questions weve had. Jad went the extra mile to make the lease signing process ultimately smooth. And Jake has always been super nice since jad left. All around, they run a very professional business and have staff on the clock, 7 days a week keeping all the amenities and common areas clean, vacuumed, as well as sanitized for covid. We looked at about a dozen spaces before landing on this one, and I can say with absolute confidence that nowhere felt as clean, and safe as this building. People leaving reviews on here must have some sort of personal vendetta against the sun or something. On top of that, cannot those with gripe get to one of the many department/hardware stores all in close (MANY IN WALKING) proximity > enter "x" store and 1 hour later, with ease and affordability be finished setting up your own air conditioner. People on here don't even mention how great of a walkability and bicyclibility to downtown this place has. It is centered right in a mecca-level city, with affordable rent/ little to ZERO security deposit, and a GYM, AND kushy COMMUNITY ROOM all within the building, and a coffee shop. Please, to any and all reading Google reviews. Don't buy into those complaining of having to siphon heat from the hallways, as these are the types of people who complain about life every single day of their life. I am not somebody who has anything to gain by posting this, nor am I a friend or relative of someone at the business. I just don't think East 12 lofts is getting an overall fair review. That said, Apologies for any venty blogger vibes this post gave off. Here is to my indefinite departure...

I will say for the most part I’ve loved living here. However, it was poorly designed. Let me explain why I feel that way for starters the apartment only has one window that opens. During the cooler months it’s not horrible. But all that changes during the summer when it stays 85-90 degrees inside. So I purchased a portable air conditioner I was able using a unit capable of cooling 550 sq feet down to 75 degrees in what is designed as a living room and the bedroom struggles to get below 80 degrees. Downside to using portable ac unit my electric bill skyrocketed to over $200 a month. During my time at East 12th Lofts my bike rims was stolen only one week after owing it from the secured bike room (Bike had a u-lock on it) . The apartment building thought it was a great idea to put all the bikes in the bike room on display to everyone walking by as it has huge windows for everyone to see in. After my bike rims were stolen I asked for a copy of what the cameras saw back in October and to the day 12-31-20 I have yet to receive that video. One would think the apartment manager would send out a notice to other tenants so they can be aware of the issue. After my rims were stolen I spoke with other neighbors and they had the same thing happen to them and also management did nothing. I don’t blame them for the theft but they need to address the issue and close the windows to the bike room so the bikes aren’t on display to all of Portland. I thought about renewing my lease here is how it went down. 90 days out they send out a notice saying my rent is going up $20. So I talk to the leasing office about it and they agreed to lower the rent $40. But get this, if you walk in off the street they are willing to get you in the door offering more than $100 less than what I’m paying. So if you are looking for something long term I wouldn’t lease here as management has no interest in keeping people in the building. I also asked about renting a storage room and was told they had three storage units available. I was told they would call me back once they change the key. So a week later I call as I hadn’t heard anything yet and get this they rented the unit out to someone else. They obviously forgot or lied to me about the unit. I’ve had like other people issues with the washer and dryer and I will say management for the most part gets out fast to fix any issue you have. So that is a big plus. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t rent here again.

These apartments have some great amenities and the finishes are nice to look at but the floor plans are pretty terrible. You can clearly tell the developer didn't give a single thought to natural light or indoor environmental quality but just focused on maximizing the number of units in the building. The windows also aren't easy to install an air conditioner vent to, and the units themselves don't have AC so summers can be pretty miserable. The walls are also INCREDIBLY thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Other than that it is a great location so you kind of need to just weigh how important it is to be in the area. The office staff are really friendly and are very helpful at resolving any issues on site, but I was definitely happy to move when I did. I miss the area, not my unit.

There are over 70 people on the deck tonight, loud in the halls and not even residents. Why are they allowed there after 10 pm on a weekend night when I am not allowed there?
