Camp closes at dusk. Views and sunset spectacular but you will need to leave at dusk unless you are camping? Driving down in the dark on the unfamiliar road is not for the faint of heart. If camping at the top a short walk out from any site your find great star gazing or camp at the bottom in the field or a short walk to field from most sites. Rangers are great, but the know their job and who's camping and if you don't belong they will ask you to leave. With all that said I would just call the rangers for the best information, I am only giving you the information I know. Berkshire Community College has a great class if your looking for that route, lots of fun and the course book is a easy read and worth a purchase taking class or not. BCC may be able to connect you will the information you are looking for. Call the parks department or all local tourist information. I bet some places have start gazing events. Sorry to give so much information for a simple question.
Absolutely! There is a nice clearing car accessible at the top of the mountain, which frames the sunset perfectly! Also, most camp sites are upon above, so great for stargazing!
