We have been there multiple times over the past 3 years and it hasn't been a problem for us.

Yes there is a smell that lingers, my last stay was the worst.. There wasn't any hot water... I had traveled hours.. And couldn't get a refund or shower! I hope this is helpful.
They have recently done a lot of remodeling seems to have helped.
