Are the engines reverse connected in pull-push runs with the tender leading to protect the engine at grade crossings?

They are reversed with tender leading on the way out of Strasburg station. They disconnect and switch to front of train with engine leading for the return trip. Convenient for operations and to give visitors plenty of opportunities to see the engines. Nothing to do with crossings; engines lead 50% of each run.
