Typically yes, otherwise they'll just have you make one and come back likely. Unless they're super slow that day.
As far as I remember they like for u to make one if u have a large piece u want done. As far as smaller ones and piercings I don't believe so no.
You don't have to have one, but it helps a lot as a artists may not be open at the time you show up.
No appointments needed for piercings but we fo recommend getting one for a tattoo. We do walkin tattoos whenever possible but since they require so much prep time not to meantion the time to actually do one. Tattoos are much more involved so we always recommend appts to give it the required time but small ones we can generally get to quivkly so it will also drpend on how involved it is. A sleeve for example can never be done as a walkin but infinuty symbols can just purly as example.
