Maybe. There are a lot of large rocks right beside the waterfront though that would make it unpleasant. There are definitely better places around Oriental to launch a kayak.
Town beach
I would try the town dock or the wildlife ramp instead. I've never seen a person launch any boat of any kind at Lou Mac.
There is a kayak launch at the Wildlife ramp at the end of Midyette st. I will be installing 2 kayak racks this week. The launch area is a hand's width away from the floating dock I built a few years ago.
There's a small public beach not far from Lou Mac park. Drive past Lou Mac to the stop sign and take a right. You'll see a small outdoor covered picnic area on the right. Perfect launch spot.
Thanks. Just thinking the ramps might be kind of full in big drum fishing season. Am I allowed to park here after dark? Im no stranger to rough launching spots. Culverts and docks and rocks etc ha ha.
