Cute little beach area with picnic table. The few times we went by, there were no people. It was a great place to take our dog for a splash in the water!

A great disappointment! The Neuse River is polluted and this “beach” is in this area. When we arrived to swim it smelled bad. We had to leave and this after we called the town of Oriental NC to confirm we could swim. Look up the river and you will see the write up I pasted below. I would not recommend this place. No wonder we haven’t seen anyone swimming here in any water spot we’ve seen. The write up on the web. “The Neuse has been plagued in recent years with environmental and public health problems related to municipal and agricultural waste water discharge, storm runoff, and other sources of pollution.[11] Pollution was particularly bad in the aftermath of hurricanes Fran and Floyd in the late 1990s.”

What a fantastic little gem. Oriental is so great. An undiscovered gem.
