My question is: why did you choose this unfortunate name for the restaurant? Since ‘pho’ is properly pronounced ‘fhu’ the addition of ‘king’ to the name can result in some truly embarrassing conversations, it seems to me....

Yes, I am sure that the proprietors were completely unaware of the pronunciation of their main dish and that the naming was entirely an unfortunate error. That's the joke. Pho King lighten up a bit. Laugh once in a while!

Jesus Abby how immature! You have such a dirty mind, they're just saying they're the king of pho!

It's a chain restaurant. The name was intentional because that is the joke. Just like the furniture store Sofa King. Although the joke may not fly so much here with the much more conservative population.

They definitely know what they're doing with the name. Their punch card has "You're Pho King awesome!" written on it.

"King" is used frequently in Asian cultures, when it comes to naming restaurants. There is nothing embarrassing about it.
