RPM is more similar to a regular theatre, it just has nicer chairs and better surround sound (typically). IMAX is usually an enormous, curved screen. More distinct from a normal theatre room than RPM.

Imax has to do with the way the movie is shot. Generally its a much better quality of film. RPM is there version of it except in the rpm theater you get better chairs that are reserved as you buy your ticket. But i think the one thing that really stands out is the sound they have a hudge surrond sound system in there so if you are sensitive to loud noises you may not want to do the Rpm thing but if you like it this is the place for you but like all things better they charge a xtra 4 dollars per ticket so it can be expensive......... Where did the old days go when u could go see a movie for 5 bucks and eat for 5 bucks now they want your eye teeth to go see a movie.
