Yes it is wise to use the club card to bring the prices to a fair market value. This is a franchise house hold name and with the amount of money they dump into promotions and advertising, yes I would assume that there prices are higher then a smaller lesser popular store. That's not always the case so just be aware of the market and the value of products in comparison with competitors with similar products or service
No, they are definitely pricey, even with a club card. It's the brand, like if you've heard of publix, it's the same basic idea. Stick to Fred's
Actually I prefer Safeway stores and I have definitely enjoyed shopping at this store that gives me a Small Town feel in a Large City like Portland OR. Even during the time when the local Safeway Corp was buying out another Market, this store didn't make me feel lost in the Take Over like another Safeway Pharmacy just a few miles away which was very important to me that I get my medications On Time! I do agree that using the Safeway App, Weekly Ads and Coupons is helpful in bringing prices down even more, but consider the difference in quality of product and services that you get at Safeway over what you get at stores that are Rock Bottom! I'm very picky about the foods that I buy and I would rather pay a few pennies more to get exactly what I'm looking for than something made cheaply. But that's just me!
Safeway and Fred Meyer is owned by Krogers Albertsons is owned by Krogers also
Personally I dont think their prices are high at all especially when you use the club card and coupons, but hey there is always winco where prices may be lower at times but you shop there at your own risk!
