Yes. You can see how they're made in the visitors center and there are some for purchase as well! It's an awesome stop and would highly recommend!
The great spirit gathered all the nations there and told them that the stone was the same as their blood and that they were to make their pipes from this and smoke together in peace. It's a sacred place for all peoples.
This is where American Indians have quarried red Pipestone for generations to make their pipes for prayer. It is still an active quarry today. Very beautiful and informative. Highly recommend!
