You woll be on interstate until the last couple of miles. Just go slowly, and parking at TW is a breeze. Get a hotel for the night, though.
I live about 20 minutes from there. Howell Mill can be a little congested, because of all the restaurants, but traffic flows pretty well in that area. It has its own parking and is a breeze to get in and out. And shows don't usually go too late.
Traffic in that area is chill. The only congestion would be on 75/85 right as you enter the city but should only take you ten to fifteen minutes to reach your exit in bad traffic. Get a hotel and drive in early so there's no rush then uber to the venue.
You don't have to drive through downtown Atlanta to get to terminal west. My mom lives in rural SC as well. You can literally get off at Atlanta Road on 285 and you wont even have to drive through the city at all. Terminal West is off of Atlanta road and it's a straight shot! Awesome venue! Definitely one of the best!
Driving to Atlanta can be random. This location is chill, , but any city is terrible during rush hour.
Could also park at a marta lot, ride to bankhead or midtown station, and uber to the show. That will be a little more complicated but will save you dealing with navigating downtown ATL, which can be tough. Also, Terminal West is not really in a congested part of town and parking there is pretty simple if youre willing to pay the $10 or whatever it is.
Atlanta has the second busiest traffic in the Usa. So to be honest it is very busy but just come in a day before and take an uber or Marta from your air bnb.
