We've lost six large koi the last 3 days that we've had since 2005! We are so upset as these are our pets. We cleaned our three filters on Sunday only to find them dieing. Any idea why? Could it be the hot weather, too much chlorine in the water?

You have my sympathy for your loss. We went through the same thing two summers ago and it hurts. We love our fish. A pet is a pet, fur or fin. Our issue was extreme heat and a blown breaker resulting in oxygen deprivation. We had a seperate electric line run that supports our pond only. We also installed 2 aerators that run off electric and a solar aerator. The folks at Hanover Koi are the best for helping you get to the bottom of what caused your loss. Again, my condolences on your loss.

Yes and yes. Probably low oxygen in the heat. Have you tested the water, and if so for what and what brand and type test kits did you use. Did you add new chlorinated water without dechlorinating it? Many more questions for you.... Please send future responses and questions to [email protected]. We do not normally answer question in this venue.
