Most of the scares involve your senses; such as intense strobe lights and moments of sudden total darkness, a few moments in a tunnel that has material on the walls that makes it a very tight and dark experience. I think it depends on the kid, if your 8-10 year old can handle the visual and physical discomforts then the house is fine. No scenes are overly graphic. It is all PG-13. Plus the actors will stop and help you to an exit if you say "let me out let me out" so there's that.

Safe yes. Appropriate, probably not. There are pretty intense jumpscares, though they do have an option to wear a necklace that allows the performers to know you may be easily scared and so they scale back a bit.
