Its mostly outdoors...so for kids yes but if its too cold or hot. I think 3.5 might be a little further than i would drive.
if you go add dinasour valley state park, for dinasour footprints and perot museum to your trip and cantina laredo in fortworth for lunch and fossill embedded walls covering building!
It depends on the ages of the kids and how much they love Dino's. We drive from the fort Worth area with a 2 and 6 year old and it was VERY worth it.
