No its just a movie like any other movie. It has to come to the theater they say opening weekend to hype up the sells for it making it feel like something special is happening. Tickets cost the same as if you bought next weekend. I do suggest you buy you tickets earlier in day because shows on opening weekend sell out.
Yes , it is best to call ahead about special times. And as the other person wrote it is wise to purchase tickets in advance, at thr theatre, for popular movies.
It actually depends. Some movie theaters throw a special event if it's a large movie. When beauty and the beast came out my daughter was hired as belle. Everyone got to take pictures with her and she acted like belle in the lobby.
