Aaron Johnson I run 72 and get 7.5 miles per gallon with 42,000 in the wagon.

Safer and more fuel efficient. Most of those guys that go over 65 get less than 7mpg, so they think they are making more money but they don't know they are still pissing it away on fuel. Prime trucks get anywhere from 8mpg up to 12mpg. Yes you get to pick up more loads but Driving faster means you're working the truck harder than it's supposed to and still not really making much more than the average 65 mph trucker. I rather drive my safe 65 mph truck and go home with anywhere from $2-6K a week depending on the type of loads. Work smarter not harder.

Most trucks, esp company trucks are governored between 60 and 68. There are a few that are set at 70 and 75. Most owner operators run with wide open trucks, those are the ones you see traveling with the traffic. They all are slow to take off due to the amount of weight we haul and sometimes our drive train setup. Some are setup to pull heavy and get started fast, some are setup for fuel mileage which gets started slow. Hope this helps.
