If the sky is clear, solar telescopes are set up during the history tour on the fourth Sunday of each month, 1-4 PM. Sun-specific programs are also offered throughout the summer months.
Absolutely! I've attended solar viewing events there in the past.
The observatory staff as well as volunteers are very knowledgeable in the different planetary bodies in our solar system, as well as planets and systems that astronomers are looking at that are far away. I know in the past they have hosted events for the sun and it's study, so it is very likely they do.
They are also open to the public M-F from 12-4 and on clear days may set up for solar viewing.
