The Tower of the Americas is just one aspect of Hemisfair park, which is in the process of being redeveloped. One section, Yanaguana Garden, is an all ages, and all abilities, playground. It has large round swings that people with disabilities can lay on and swing, which is good for the inner ear’s equilibrium faculties. There is also a ground level splash pad that is wheelchair accessible, that disabled visitors can enjoy if they can transfer onto the ground, (or don’t mind their wheelchair getting wet). There are outdoor private “changing rooms,” (square, wooden shelters), and visitors can transfer into one of the many colorful Adirondack chairs while their wheelchair dries in the sun on a warm, bright day. There is a large scale sandbox as well. Any can enjoy giant concrete checkers and chess boards with huge playing pieces, or regular size painted boards on concrete tables that usually have colorful playing pieces. Yanaguana Gardens is not grass, is shady & free. Food nearby
