I am a US citizen living in Switzerland. I no longer have a valid Wisconsin driver's license. I have a Swiss driver's license. I'm planning a trip home to Wisconsin in August and will rent a car. Will my Swiss passport work for driving a rental?

Under current American law, all you need in order to drive in the USA is a valid driving license issued by your country if you will be in the USA for a maximum of 3 months. A foreign license to drive in the United States will be considered valid in 49 states, except for Georgia, which requires a US driver’s license for foreigners, known as an International Driving Permit (IDP). In every other state, your foreign driver’s license, together with your biometric passport for the USA, are sufficient documentation for you to drive a rental car.
