It is knowen as the fort tjat save America. When Howell capture Philadelphia they needed supplies so they order ship to come up the river. The fort held them off for three weeks if i remember correctly before they abandon it and Howell abandon Philadelphia. The story is great to read and ashame that no one really knowes the whole story about the fort. It became fort mifflin after the war.

It was a defensive Outpost during the beginning of the country along the river. If I remember correctly it changed hands during the battles a time or two. Reminded me of valley forge and Gettysburg era construction
