You do not have to make an appointment. You are greeted at the door, they ask you how could they help you, you tell them and they ask for your name, get your number and add you to the waiting list if you need an assistant.
You don't need an appointment but I believe you can set up a time to stop by which may lessen the time you have to wait. Honestly if you can accomplish what you need online, that is a much more time effective option.

No you dont. But there is a waiting list. When you walk in they take your name and your number for the account you need help with. Then you're in the waiting list. They'll come find you when its your turn to be helped by a sales associate. The verizon stores can be quite busy at times and you'll almost always have a small wait.
