The gift shop has official Cardinals/MLB gifts so it'll be more expensive than most gift shops. There are children gifts, I bought something for my daughter there. Also there's a Cardinals Build-a-Bear store in Busch Stadium.

It does cost a little more than normal but unless you're going to buy something you can get at Walmart you should come to expect it. The game experience is all encompassing. From the $6 hotdog to the $5 water. It's an awesome experience for the kids. That unique or only available at the stadium gift is what makes the experience that much more special.
All stadium gift shops are a little pricy. If you want a good souvenir that will last and is relatively unique Id suggest a stadium ball. All mlb stadiums sell balls that are exclusive to each stadium and are marked with the mlb and team stadium logo. They are usually reasonably priced and make for a good conversation piece displayed on a childs shelf.
