Maria Hernandez, Confederate Jasmine vine blooms for just about 2 months in spring and tolerates our high PH soils, it is very easy to grow and keep trimmed. Gardenias, depending on variety, can bloom later in spring and again mid summer and fall however they are fussy plants that only want acid soil and evenly, moderate moisture, they also want only morning sun 4 to 6 hours and afternoon shade here in San Antonio, special acid food, no saucers with water under the pot, and they can get hurt in hard freezes. I like to call these gardenias and plants like them "Pets in Pots". If you work at adjusting the soil in the ground by composting, adding sand if soil is heavy, also feeding the gardenias regularly you can possibly keep them in the ground but the soil must drain well. I also enjoy the beauty of gardenias but they are not beginner plants. There might be better choices that will work for you at Miberger Nursery. Come in and talk to Mary, Adam, Roger, Nyellie, or Judy for help.
