Is the area/neighborhood around the United center safe? Because people have told me that the south and west side of Chicago aren’t really safe. Is there any parts of Chicago I should stay away from?

There are some rough areas if you start straying away from the general vicinity of the United Center. Being by the United Center is safe in my opinion but don't walk off into a surrounding neighborhood on your own. I've been to the United Center for plenty of events and I've never had a problem.

Stay with the crowds or a group and you should be fine. As a general statement, your friends are correct.

Yes around the United Center is a little sketchy there's a very huge police presence you should be safe and just stay away from people that you know may I ask you for money or when I went to a concert there were guys out in the front playing buckets with drumsticks for money but they didn't approach you

Don't wander off into the neighborhoods. Go to the uc and back to wherever you need to go.

Safest place to visit in Chicago is the downtown area, it's a tourists attraction so there's a lot to do and it's safe. But yes stay away from the west and south side

That area is pretty safe no Matter where you go be vigilant and notice everything. Like the teach us in grade school look before crossing road
