The Hampton Inn was nice with a great breakfast spread and very close to the venue...I enjoyed my stay here
There are plenty of places close to this venue. Hilton has a nice pond and shops and restaurants close by cool area at night
I believe there is the hotel on UNC CHARLOTTE campus
I've stayed at a few different places in that area and the Courtyard/Marriott is my personal preference
