You will need to file an N565 which costs $555 and takes 6 to 10mos to get a copy. Theres a form I-912 for fee waiver but you basically have to be at or below the poverty level to be granted a waiver. Pretty hefty price for a copy huh? If they gave everyone a CARD like a license or green card, along with the court document, this problem could be substantially eliminated. In todays 'climate' of hostility towards immigrants would it not stand to reason that a 'card' that proves citizenship be appropriate? It would stop harassment or possible incarceration and I'm being extreme here, just making a much needed point.
