Union station is a good place to start, and it can take you to quite a few places. Odds are, your motel will be near by.
Union Station is a good meet point for getting a ride or meeting friends. Plenty of parking lots sprinkled through the area.

Pedicab will at least get you out of the crowd and to a bus line, Union Station for the light rail and there are usually plenty of Ubers around.
Jus a nice walk or taxi or shuttle
If it is a hotel and it's downtown what is really fun to do is to take a pedicab.
There are several light rail options that you can catch from Union Station next to stadium.
