You need to have a domestic partnership paper to be accepted as a couple into PATH DHS system. The other issue is that they can deny you based on being an out of state resident. Your going to need to have a NYC address to apply, without one they will send you back to Georgia, even with one there is a chance they will deny your application and send you back to Georgia. They are going to consider you an out of state resident, you can try to fight it, but they are going to do everything they can to deny you and send you back to Georgia. Family shelter system in NYC is currently above capacity and there are no housing programs, families are stuck stagnant in the system unable to obtain affordable housing for a few years on average. Many families are being reported to NYC children's services(ACS) by DHS and shelter staff, kids are being removed & placed into foster care in what is a disgusting effort by Mayor DeBlasios administration to lower the numbers.
@Tech that's not completely true. Many people come from out of state and head to path and get placed. New York even pays your way back to your home state if things don't work out for you. But yes you do need to get a domestic partnership
I left NY in May of this year. Does that matter at all? I lived in nyc 8 yrs prior to moving.
