Masks are required. When we went on a Saturday and we had to wait as the VMFA had met capacity. It was worth the wait to see the exhibits and have a late lunch. I love the smaller capacity as I can enjoy the exhibits and not be in someone's way or vis-versa.
Floor markings are present controlling the flow of traffic in closely packed areas. Mask requirements are enforced. I experienced no issues while I was there.
