100% recommend coming to this art museum! It is FREE and only costs $6 to park. What I like most about this museum is that there is an exhibit for everyone! Everything from Egyptian tombs to traditional paintings to contemporary art and even stunning jewelry and furniture. There is EVERYTHING here! I visited in January and had a fantastic time. I would recommend this place to anyone and plan to bring friends back. This is 100% the best art museum I’ve ever been to. I think it’s even better than the one in D.C. (way less crowded too). There are also tons of clean restrooms and a nice gift shop. You could easily spend 5+ hours here - it’s a spectacular museum. (10th time trying to post this review 🙄)

Visit was 18 May 2022, from NC on business in Richmond the last night of my trip. Three levels of beautiful collections. I think I spent 2 1/2hrs between sculptures on outside and the inside collections. They have just started back their Wednesday Jazz sessions in the evening in the Atrium and I caught the beginning before leaving. I also love Jazz. Area is very nice & safe and you can take in all the wonders of this area. Parking was good. Please go when in area, you won’t be disappointed. If back in area I would bring others to VMFA. Oh, there was no cost, even though I would have paid anyway.

Could be 5 stars, but I know too many people that work/worked there and spoke of how awful management treats employees. That aside, there are some really interesting exhibits and the space is definitely nice. It's also free, which is nice for students and cute, non-expensive date ideas. Management aside, staff are always nice as well and the museum does collaborate with local colleges, which is good. Definitely worth taking a look around. An absolutely amazing experience. It was raining so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors. It was so much to see. I would have to come back. Artwork and collections are beautiful. Definitely coming back!! A nice place for a date. Food served for a price the reflect the cost for buying from a museum.
