I rented a car from the E 38th Street location. I did this because of personal convenience. A friend says I cannot rent a car from that location if I am not flying. Is this correct?

I have never heard that before. I have never been asked if i have flown in when i pick up a car. Typically you don't have to input flying details if you are reserving. Any case, rental it is always better to reserve before hand. But, you will send to spend more money by renting at an airport location than an off location. Airport case rentals have additional fees. Just from my experiences in traveling for work.

Not correct. You can rent a car and not be flying.

It's perfectly fine to rent at airport locations even when u r not flying to/from that location. Usually there some airport charges that are levied that makes the cost of renting a little higher than other locations. But there are times when you prefer airport location: * Sometimes you will find certain type of vehicles available at airport locations only. * Sometimes its cheaper at airport even after airport charges. * Or like in your case, convenience.

They didn't ask any of my flight info when I booked, picked up or returned my rental, so I'd have to say this isn't accurate.
