All lumber contains knots including the Japanese Cedar that was mentioned below which is actually closer to a spruce/pine than actual cedar. If you are wanting boards without knots it is a grade called clear which is significantly more expensive but available in Western Red Cedar. It should not have knots because they fall out over time leaving holes in the boards
