A hawk of some kind flew into our backyard yesterday. Hung out on the ground for a bit, then flew up onto our fence. I have a few pictures of this wonderful bird but my wife and I cannot tell exactly what it was. Need help to identify

Hi Scott! We agree with Will K. that it was likely either a Cooper's Hawk or a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Both birds are among our favorite back yard raptors!

Best bet without seeing it would be a Cooper's hawk. They feed mostly on the sparrows that frequent the Boise neighborhoods
