Pet stores pay to have them flown in. Yes. They fly delta. The are vet inspected to make sure they are disease free. When you buy from a local breeder you are not absorbing some of that cost. However, you should make sure they are vet checked.
Cockatiels go for about 250 from most commerical businesses, unless you go through a private breeder.
