The owner is a childhood friend of mine. I've asked him the exact same question, especially when other places are half that price of not less. The answer he gave me was because of the process and the spices that go into boiling and coating them with their house sauces is what you're paying for. On some days, they have specials where 3lbs are like $15..? I think the price is a little steep but when I taste that garlic butter sauce on the crawfish, every ounce of logic goes away lol.
It depends on what time of the season it is. If it is on the middle of the season it usually runs 2.50 for raw and about 3.50 for cooked.
