They were at one point.

They were......... until the first movie.

When was the last time you visited Regal? I had not been in a while then recently visited with my family and was pleasantly surprised by their "new" chairs (that being new to me since I had not seen them before). I have to admit that I had not visited in a while but if this is the case with you then you'll be pleasantly surprised as well. The "regular" seats have been upgraded to recline with a push of a button on the side of the right arm rest and a "table" has been attached to the right arm as well. I'm sure you remember or might have heard of the old wooden school desks, the ones w the half-desk of some sorts, well they did something similar as well as adding a cup holder to it. Even thought it was very pleasant it was a bit of an inconvenience to get out of when you have to use the restroom during the movie. My experience was very pleasant and I really liked the new seating so I returned a week or so later to check out the IMAX, that was not as great. The seats are not as cool.
