I am not sure about security. It was daylight when we were there. I would not recommend being there alone at night. We did see many homeless people camping in the general vicinity.
There are groups of homeless who camp under the bridge near 2nd Avenue South. Right next to the elevator. If you go after dark don't go too late and it's best to always go in a group.
Take a wingman or in the early AM. Fewer people.
There is no security on the bridge.
It's a nice bridge to take pictures. Like any big city there can be homeless walking around asking for money. I lived downtown for years and I always found Nashville to be a great city.

I don't remember seeing security but I remember seeing a lot of homeless in the area. Wouldn't not recommend going at night.
