Lots of caring people.

The staff here is so sweet! They were very helpful and made everything go smoothly during my Power Red donation.

An awful place. First off, finding the right entrance during the COVID-19 pandemic is nearly impossible. The signage is very poor. And then once inside, the precautions are lax. You are seated in a very small room right next to the staff person who does your intake. And the staff person told me I did not have to wear a mask (I was). Then when I was giving blood, they struggled with my vein and called for assistance from someone else. That person took approximately 10 minutes before arriving and then moved the needle some more. All this time, whatever questions I asked went unanswered. Staff just communicated with themselves and wouldn’t tell me what was going on. Like, be human beings! It turns out I had already started clotting and so after 15 minutes, they stopped the donation. I was 3/4 full of the unit, which doesn’t count as a donation. I was released and told I would not get the COVID-19 antibody test I was promised because I did not finish, as if it was my fault. Just totally tactless staff who do not treat you like humans, just as bodies from which they can draw blood. Basically vampires.

I am a platelet donor I donate as often as I can. I've donated blood whole blood once and platelets three times. It takes an hour and a half to donate platelets but it's well worth it, it helps cancer patients. All the ladies there are incredible on the Charlotte Street Building of the Red Cross. Miss Karen is the best person I love her she gently does the needle. I never have any bruises or marks all of them are extremely sweet. I use the rapid pass so I already fill out all my information before I go in & I have a blood donor card so that I can go as often as I'm able. Which I suggest everybody does and save a life. My husband and I both donate so we're a husband and wife donating team.

Call your red cross caseworker. Sometimes there are other ways
You can check that out at redcrossblood.org
Nothing, this is a donation center.
For plasma, it should be 28 days before whole blood, but platelets can be earlier. You can call 1-800-RED CROSS to discuss specifics. Thank you!
Red Cross does not pay for donations. You might receive a small gift card or T-shirt occasionally.
Per the FDA, transfusable blood products can only come from volunteer donations. There are occasionally donor incentives, though, and all presenting donors through 06/10/2019 will receive a $5 Amazon e-Gift Card approximately 30 days following their donation. - ARC Employee
I do Power Red (packed cells) and the needle is slightly larger than a straight donation. It doesn't hurt.
They do not. However if you stay well hydrated and try to cut down on your red meats you may be able to have a low enough hemoglobin to dontate. You don't have to tell them that you were donating for your medical benefit
With all the donations that were thrown away in TX by them... I would take it to the Salvation Army. They in my past experience were at least more reliable about getting it down there and to someone.
A good feeling in the pit of your stomach; I don't know of anything else.
