Why does the women’s shelter not accept gently used clothes and toys for kids? I know from working in the social work area of this, is that lots of these women had to leave without anything! I find it sad that I was told that they will not accept

Hi Angella - we do accept used clothing, but cannot process used clothing donations directly at Laura’s Home because our facility has no available storage space. You can however, bring used clothing donations to our 5310 Carnegie Ave warehouse where it will be sorted and distributed to women and children as needed. We have a beautiful clothing and you room for our guests at Laura’s Home, which we keep well stocked and available at no cost. If you ever want to take a tour and see these rooms for yourself, you’re more than welcome to. Learn more about drop off hours at Carnegie at www.thecitymission.org/material-gifts.
