Because they know their transportation is cheaper than almost every other form of transportation, so they can treat you however they want to and you will always need them again. The bus drivers are rude, the wifi is unusable, they are dirty, there is always some sort of mechanical issue, and you may ride (like I did recently) on a bus that stunk so bad I was nauseous and had a headache when I arrived at my destination. I also sat in the very front of the bus, so I can't imagine how the people in the back felt. I've had to contact customer service many times and they are always rude as well. All in all, it's never a pleasant journey.
Not a minor major city so routes and hours of operation are limited, transfers are late or over booked plus 90% of all Greyhound reps are rude, careless with your luggage or unconcerned: take this or nothing.
