Do you have to pay to do the mile high bridge?

It's open year round.. It's free to hike up the bridge.. You have to pay park entrance fee.. No additional fees inside..

If you want to park on the parkway and hike up to the bridge on the trail its free.

It was expensive for 2 adults and 2 kids, $50... But thats to enter park. Then everything else is "free", mini zoo, museum, mile high bridge. At the gate they even give a CD audio tour to pop in while driving.

If you enter on the attraction side (drive up to it), then yes there is a fee. However, if you're up to it, you can take the Profile Trail in the state park area (free) up to the Grandfather Trail and to the bridge. However, that route is extremely strenuous and not for the faint of heart; it contains some of the toughest trails east of the Mississippi River.

Good morning, right now at the weather station at the bridge, it is -6 F with wind chill of -35 F. Winds sustained at 39mph. If you love cold like I do, then by all means go and experience it. By mid-January it should warm up some. Forecasts say into the 30’s which is a lot warmer than -6. Hope this helps you! Grandfather Mountain and the surrounding areas are my favorite places on Earth.

The Park Ranger told me it's open year round, even January, weather permitting, meaning if there's no storm. Go on a clear day, as mentioned above.

Yes it just to pay to get in ethe park itself then you get a CD to listen to while you ride up the mountain like a tour guide in your car and it take up to the bridge :) go on a clear day tho :)

You have to pay park entrance fee to get into park. Once in the park there is no additional fee access the bridge. Note it is extremely windy on the bridge, bring a jacket and cap.
