I plan to attend the Auto Show and I have a question concerning the carrying of a fire arm. I am retired from the NYC Dept. of Corrections and carry when I ride the subway. Are there any restrictions to entering the building with a fire arm?

They do have light security with metal detectors. If you have a police carry, it overrides everything and they have to let you in with it.

They will confiscate any type of weapons

They took away a Keychain knife from me if that helps

They confiscated a very small knife from me. So yeah, I would imagine that you can't enter with your firearm!

I would tell the security guard I was carrying. The guard might escorted you to a place where you could lock up your gun until your visit was over or let you keep your gun on you. Either way you should not leave home without your fire arm.
