Um im pretty sure the park is closed at dusk but yes in the afternoon its safe Greenbelt PD are usually off to the side somewhere along the trail.
Forgive me, but I am unable to answer the question. I and children were passing through, returning to VA. from Delaware. It is a very nice park, but evening safety concerns are beyond my knowledge.
The pary closes at 7:00 and the trail is a very interesting one because if you are walkingwith someone, there'salotyou can talk about while you walk. I feel safer knowing that the police is so close.
