As my man G. Eddie Patten said...take the lens and body in with you! They'll set you straight!
They have been fantastic with service, repairs and help on issues. They should be able to take care of you. Worst case is they will have to send the lense back to Canon for repairs.
It is best to take the lens to the guys in the shop and let them take a look at it. See Eldar when you arrive. Best of luck and sorry to hear about the drop.
