We made the hike with my 76 year old grandmother. She was breathing hard, and we had to stop in the shade often, but she made it and was happy. Along the way we met some men coming down that were saying "I'm 81, so I know you can do it!". At the same time, EMTs were rushing up the mountains with a gurney to bring down a woman that looked to be in her late 20s, hooked to an IV. Stay hydrated, take it slow, stick to shade. They suggest leaving yourself 2 hours to hike before your cave appointment and you will need it. Very worth it! The caves are about 42°, which is immensely refreshing after the hike. Enjoy!
Yes, if you're healthy despite being a senior, i made it just fine. One warning though. I definitely used the benches (there are many) on the steep hike. The tickets you purchase are timed. I did not make my scheduled entrance time. Thankfully, the guide on the next tour bumped me into hers. If you are a large party, that might not be possible. When you purchase your tickets, ask for increased hiking time. It just may make the difference in making your tour time or not. And bring lots of water. Most of the hike is in direct sunlight, adding another challenge. But well worth the effort.
It's 1.5 miles gaining 1100 feet in elevation. There are lots of benches and places to rest, but it is considered strenuous.
Sure if they are in good health. It's steep, but their are many rest spots. It was harder to come down though.
No
It's possible, you might take longer to hike to the top
