There is a monorail that leads around the downtown area connected to the towers. And it's right on the river.

The DPM(Detroit downtown monorail) has a station with catwalks to the Riverfront Towers.

*Riverfront is downtown without being caught up in the craziness of downtown. Plus there is a Tram that come to the Apt and "encircles" downtown. Midtown is a bikeable distance. Cliff bells is inbetween. Hope this help
